Fic: Patching Percy (Warehouse 13/Cowboys & Aliens G Gen)

Title: Patching Percy
Fandoms: Warehouse 13/Cowboys & Aliens
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Category: Gen
Major Characters: Irene Frederic, Percy Dolarhyde, Woodrow Dolarhyde, Jake Lonergan
Wordcount: ~3600
Spoilers: None really for Warehouse 13; set late in Cowboys & Aliens.
Disclaimer: Not mine, etc. etc. Even the bits that are.
Feedback: Yes, please, here, on AO3, or to helenw@murphnet.org.
Summary: When she could, Irene stroked the walls, the posts, murmuring “Shhh, shhh, it's okay” to the wood like it was a baby. Feeling a little foolish, because why would the house believe her words, when she was as torn up inside as anybody?

Written for yeomanrand, who wanted a twelve-year-old Irene, for Yuletide 2012.

On AO3: Patching Percy

I know we're (mostly) fans of the film here, but this statement from Universal Pictures' President Ron Meyer is quite interesting, if only for its bald-faced negativity:

"Cowboys & Aliens wasn’t good enough. Forget all the smart people involved in it, it wasn’t good enough. All those little creatures bouncing around were crappy. I think it was a mediocre movie, and we all did a mediocre job with it... Cowboys & Aliens didn’t deserve better... Cowboys & Aliens was a big loss... We misfired. We were wrong. We did it badly, and I think we’re all guilty of it. I have to take first responsibility because I’m part of it, but we all did a mediocre job and we paid the price for it. It happens. They’re talented people. Certainly you couldn’t have more talented people involved in Cowboys & Aliens, but it took, you know, ten smart and talented people to come up with a mediocre movie. It just happens.”

Clearly C&A had some problems, and did not make a killing at the box office (it has made more than its budget, but that may not take into account promotional costs, and of course a lot of that money goes to individual theaters). However with the DVD coming out in a few weeks, and the film still at theaters worldwide it is a tad strange for someone with a financial stake in the movie to be so negative about it.

...uh, although he was possibly even more negative about Land of the Lost and The Wolfman. Poor Benicio del Toro.

DVD / Blu-Ray Release

Cowboys & Aliens will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on December 6 in the USA.

"Universal Studios Home Entertainment is including a new extended cut of the film exclusively on the Cowboys & Aliens Blu-ray and DVD combo pack release. The cut, which runs 2 hours and 16 minutes versus the 1 hour 59 minutes theatrical cut (also included), will not be on the standalone DVD release."

A bunch of special features, including Favreau's commentary track, are only on the Blu-Ray too. Woe.
